Dawn on the Withlacoochie River

There is unimaginable beauty here.   Out on the river in the early morning the mist has only just cleared with the sunrise and all you can hear is the river – wind in the trees, bird calls and the splash of fish feeding all along the banks.  No honking.  No sirens, not even the hum of  traffic.

I could probably live closer to civilization.  Yeah.  Where I could spend all my time dreaming about living someday in a place like this.

Years ago this sort of work setup would have been unthinkable.  Living out on the verge of old wilderness Florida — and able to work anywhere on the planet from my studio in the middle of the woods.

There’s a convenience store a few miles upriver.  And a little hardware store, couple of gas stations, a grocery and such.  Some art supplies, of a limited sort, can be had  in Crystal River,  just 20 miles from here.  There’s a Post Office just 5 minutes away.

Yet here I am at my ‘work’ location on the river.  The pines are just outside the window.  Art supplies are available online in seconds.  I don’t have to travel around to show my work.  I can post my own gallery.  I can shoot a finished piece and sell it on ebay.

It’s a shame I don’t really  do a lot of fishing.
